Czech Republic Government Scholarships for Developing Countries, 2016

Applications are invited for Czech Government Scholarships available for foreign nationals from developing countries to pursue Bachelor/ Master/ Doctoral degree program at public universities in the Czech Republic. The scholarships may not be granted to persons under 18 years of age (the applicants have to turn 18 as of 1 September of the year when they commence studies in the Czech Republic at the latest). These Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study. The application deadline is 30 September.

Duration of award(s): These Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study.
(1) Pursued in the Czech language:
-Bachelor’s study programmes (three- to four-year long);
-Master’s study programmes (comprehensive four- to six-year long programmes);

 (2) Language and preparatory studies (one-year long; only for those who have applied for a scholarship to study in the Czech language) – provided for by the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies  (“ILPS”) of Charles University;

 (3) Pursued in the English language:
-Selected follow-up Master’s study programmes (one- to three-year long);
–Selected Doctoral study programmes (three- to four-year long).

What does it cover? The scholarship covers the necessary costs related to staying and studying in the CR. The scholarship amount is regularly amended. Currently the amount paid to students on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or follow-up Master’s study programme stands at CZK 14,000 per month, whereas the amount paid to students of a Doctoral study programme stands at CZK 15,000 per month. The above scholarship amount includes an amount designated for the payment of accommodation costs.Costs of accommodation, food and public transport are covered by scholarship holders from the scholarship under the same conditions that apply to students who are citizens of the CR. Should healthcare exceeding standard care be required by the student, s/he shall cover it at his/her own cost. Travel expenses for travelling to the Czech Republic and back to the student’s home country are paid by the party that nominated the student to study in the CR or by the foreign national at his/her own cost.

Notification: If the application has been accepted and may proceed to the next round of the selection procedure, the Mission shall ask the selected applicants to attend an interview. The most successful applicants shall be asked to submit complete documentation by a given deadline that the Mission shall determine so as to ensure that proposals for scholarships to be granted in a new academic year are at the disposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (Development Cooperation Department, hereinafter abbreviated as “DCD”) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (International Relations Department, hereinafter abbreviated as “IRD”) in Prague by 31 December of the year prior to the given academic year at the latest.

How to Apply: All applicants shall fill in the electronic application form available on the website stated in Chapter 2 and successfully register (i.e., obtain an application identification number upon sending a completed application form to the pertinent authority electronically). Young Professionals Programme @ Commonwealth Secretariat in London

The Young Professionals Programme gives qualified young people the opportunity to contribute to the Commonwealth’s work in international development and democracy, and to build their skills in a culturally diverse, professional environment.
The programme demonstrates our ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and our recognition of young people as partners and leaders in development.

About the programme

Young Professionals will be based at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, taking up two-year positions in areas of work such as economic policy, human resources and youth. During this time, they will provide technical and administrative support to programmes and operations.
In addition to living in one of the world’s leading cities, Young Professionals will benefit from a structured programme of professional development and mentoring, working with  high-level decision-makers and technical experts.

Eligibility

To be considered, a candidate must:
  • be aged 27 years or younger at the close of the application
  • be a national of a Commonwealth member country
  • possess a strong Bachelor degree or higher level degree in a field relevant to the position
  • have at least one year of work experience in a field relevant to the position
  • have excellent English language and interpersonal skills, and
  • be able to work in a multicultural and diverse environment.

Selection process

Recruitment commenced on 28 October 2015 and will be staggered over subsequent months. There are 27 positions currently designated for young professionals – around 10% of the total staff of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The recruitment process comprises a variety of selection exercises and interviews over two stages. Stage 1 includes written and technology exercises, while Stage 2 is primarily interview-led, via Skype. So get Skype Account.
Candidates will be assessed according to their relevant qualifications and experience. In keeping with Commonwealth Secretariat guidelines, the geographic and gender balance of the total number of Young Professional positions will also be considered.
If successful, a candidate will have two weeks to confirm their intention to take up the position. Contracts cannot be deferred or postponed. Please note that each applicant may submit a maximum of three applications to the Young Professionals Programme.

Government Excellence Scholarships 2016-2017


 
The Swiss government, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS), awards the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists for the Academic Year 2016-2017. The scheme includes various postgraduate scholarships to foreign scholars and researchers:
  • University scholarships (Swiss universities, Federal Institutes of Technology, as well as Universities of Applied Sciences)
  • Arts scholarships (schools of music and fine arts, only for a limited number of countries).
These scholarships provide graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research in Switzerland at one of the public funded university or recognized institution.

Generally the scholarship includes a monthly payment, exemption from tuition fees, insurance, housing allowance, airfare and other benefits, depending on the country of origin and the type of scholarship.
